Dr. Richard M. Bruns is a Maine licensed Doctor of chiropractic since 1980. After practicing for six years in West Palm Beach Florida he moved back home to raise his 4 children and has been practicing in his current location since 1986. He has a BA in Psychology, BS in Human Biology in addition to his doctor of chiropractic degree (DC). He did his studies at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine and Logan University of health sciences and chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri just outside St. Louis.

Doctor Bruns has been certified in many techniques including licensed chiropractic acupuncture, activator methods, Cox technique , Diversified technique and has over 300 hours in the chiropractic rehabilitation diplomate. He also uses a wide variety of soft tissue techniques to treat spinal, soft tissue and extremity conditions just to name a few. He provides a wide range of advice on diet, nutrition, medicinal foods, exercise, health and wellness from his 41 years of experience in the profession. He likes to take a whole person approach looking for the cause and prevention not just the symptoms.

Doctor Bruns has served the needs of the whole family making appropriate referrals when necessary . He feels that the team approach and integrated healthcare is important . His youngest patients are newborns and his oldest patient to date was 104. He enjoys using techniques that are safe and effective for all ages.

He feels that the most important thing about his practice is referrals from patients and the medical community based on the quality of his outcomes. He regularly receives referrals from primary care physicians, hospitals and other health care institutions for the services that he provides.

He loves the great outdoors and enjoys downhill skiing, fishing, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling and music as a few of his hobbies.He follows a plant based diet and loves his mindfulness meditations to help center his life. He looks forward to his quality time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

For decades Dr. Bruns has been and continues to be very active in his profession. He has served as president of the Maine Chiropractic Association for two terms and in the American Chiropractic Association as it’s chairman and receiving many presidents awards and distinguished service awards including chiropractor of the year in the Maine Chiropractic Association and new delegate of the year and delegate of the year in the American Chiropractic Association. He continues to serve in his state and national organizations. He served as a board member and Chairman of the board for his alma mater at Logan University for 10 years until his term limit and remains a supporter of University of Maine and Logan University.

Doctor Bruns also has done extensive service in the community . Some of his contributions include serving as president and lieutenant governor of division three of New England Kiwanis, past member of the Bangor region Chamber of Commerce executive committee and board, vice chairman of the board of directors of the Red Cross and the city of Bangor charter advisory committee helping to Update the city charter. He was appointed to the board of the Maine Health Data Organization by governors John Baldacci and Angus King and elected as a chairman serving six years until term ended and was a founder of the Dirigo Quality Forum serving on its board. He also served as a member of the Maine Medical Assessment Foundation serving on it’s chiropractic advisory committee.
